Their string of hits would continue all throughout the decade of the 1960’s. Keyboardist Bob Guido, along with the band’s producer Bob Crewe shared the responsibility of composing many of the band’s biggest hits. The band’s first album featured Frankie Valli on lead vocals, Bob Gaudio on keyboards and vocals, Nick Massi on bass and vocals and Tommy DeVito on guitar and vocals. Frankie Valli & the 4 Seasons instantly became one of the most popular groups in the world in the early 1960’s. Not many bands start out their careers with three straight number one singles. Eventually, Vee Jay they would also lose Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons to Phillips Records. Vee Jay Records was The Beatles first record company that lost the band because they could not handle the group’s success and ultimately failed to make payments to the group. The band signed with Vee Jay Records in 1962. However their name always appeared on their singles and albums in the 1960s as Frankie Valli & the 4 Seasons. Many critics and fans spell out the number calling the band Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The band’s name has been spelled differently over the years.
